Leon Kraig is a senior executive with over 35 years of experience in consumer facing industries, multiple emerging and developed countries, volatile regions, complex businesses and high growth markets.

He is currently Partner and Managing Director at Ignia Partners LLC, one of the largest VC funds in Latin America. Prior to Ignia, Kraig was Regional President for Petcare Latin America at Mars Inc., a +35 B USD private company, and the third largest food manufacturer in the world, best known for brands such as M&M’s, Snickers, Pedigree, Whiskas and Orbit – where he worked for 25 years. He was responsible for starting up the Mars’ business in Mexico – including the petcare, chocolate, sugar and food categories  and growing it to the seventh largest business unit in Mars. While Regional President, he was part of the Global Petcare Management Team.

He currently serves on several boards of private and public companies as independent director, including Alsea – third largest restaurant operator in the world, listed in the Mexican Stock Exchange, Proeza – privately owned global manufacturer of chassis for the automotive industry, Industrias Alen – leader in household cleaning products, private, and Niagara Bottling Mexico – largest USA manufacturer of private label bottled water. He serves in several committees such as Compensation, Corporate Practices, Governance and Planning & Finance.

Kraig earned his MBA from the University of Minnesota, and his MFS in Food Science from Cornell University. He also received a Chemical Engineering degree from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. He completed “Managing PE Funds” course at IPADE, “Making Corporate Boards More Effective” seminar and “Leading in Unprecedented Times” at Harvard Business School and “Leadership at the Peak” course at CCL.
